At the classes they were not allowed to show their photographs, they analysed the works of the classics, tried to get to the level where the image lived, black and white spots.

Then I took a course with Sergei Maximishin, organised by the Photoplay school. Lapin helped me to immerse myself in the world of the image on the photographic plane, Maximishin helped me to overcome the barrier, to start approaching and communicating with people, before that it was a big barrier for me.

The most important thing for me was the shoot in Turkey, by the way, which was already entirely done on film. In Turkey I felt some important intersection with our reality, with the disappeared Soviet civilisation, something there in Turkey either crossed or reflected. I felt this similarity and endeavoured to capture it with a Leica and a wide-angle lens. The result was the book “The North of Turkey”.
