The history of photography, like any kind of fine art, is a choir with strong voices of soloists, those dozen or two authors, showing whom most photography curators are content to follow the current trends from year to year. I was lucky: at international portfolio reviews around the world, I had many encounters with authors whose creative ‘voice’ seemed sometimes not powerful enough at these ‘auditions’, but remained in my memory thanks to the uniqueness of their visual timbre. Everyone I wrote about was an exciting journey into a new vision for me. Everyone I wrote about interested me, was a mystery, the unravelling of which, the process of immersing myself in their work, was a joyful, intriguing experience. I am curious.
