Biography

Sergey Nikolaev was born in 1957 in Dnepropetrovsk in the east of Ukraine. He lived in Zaporozhye from 1958 until 1991. He lives in Moscow since 1991.
1974-79 — he studied at the Zaporozhye Machine Building Institute.
He began to be interested photo in 1977 and he was a member of photo club 'Zaporozhye' since 1979. He taught children photo since 1980.
1982-91 — he worked as a photographer in Ndihaz and in Trust Zaporozhyelectromontazh in Zaporozhye city.
Sergey lives in Moscow since 1991 and he taught children photo. He cooperated with the newspaper 'Spasenie' (1992-1994), Publishing house Kommersant (1994-1999), newspaper Vedomosti (1999-2010) and others.
In 2006, he created the Internet project www.photo-xyz.ru (Beyond 101st kilometer), the participants of which were: Alexander Shchemliaev, Alexander Sigidin, Vladimir Filonov, Evgeny Kompaniychenko, Maxim Dmitriev, Marlene Matus, Semion Prosyak, Sergey Chilikov, Sergey Nikolaev. In 2016, the project was closed.
2012-17 — he collaborated with the theater.
Since 2017 — independent photographer. By himself withdrew its own projects in Ukraine, Russia, Italy…
Since 1979 — Sergei Nikolaev has participated in numerous group exhibitions in the USSR, Czechoslovakia, Spain, Denmark, Russia, USA, Belarus.
Since 1991 — member of the Union of Photo Artists, both Russia and Ukraine.
Since 2018 — member of The Noga Creative Union.
