Ragnar Axelsson needs no introduction. In the photography community, RAX is known as a great explorer and documentary maker of the Arctic. For more than 40 years, he has been photographing the environment in which the people of the north exist: hunters and fishermen, farmers and herders, their faithful dogs and polar bears wandering at the foot of majestic glaciers. RAX is our 16th member of the NCU!
Faces of the North
Rax’s first series on the NCU Faces of the North, tells the story of harsh life in the northern latitudes of Greenland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands. It is a story, above all, about people and their characters, forged in harsh conditions of existence while preserving traditional ways of life and adapting to the unforgiving changes in the modern world.
