NCU presents the second member of the union from the Island of Liberty.
Cuban photographer Manuel Almenares has been dealing with the urban environment of Havana, its central and old parts, for more than 8 years. Looking at his work, we do not just observe the street life of the Cuban capital, some superficial aesthetics of street photography as a genre, but we feel the more intimate processes that are available to the author thanks to his deep knowledge and immersion in the material. Before us is Havana, the frontier where Manu lives and works, the city he loves and to which he is devoted with all his heart.
Centro Habana
Almenares' first series of photographs on the NCU Centro Habana, is part of the main project themes that Manu focuses on in his daily practice. Manuel lives and breathes the themes of the urban environment of Havana’s central neighbourhoods, its rich atmosphere, diverse rituals and customs of the capital’s motley and heterogeneous mass of inhabitants.
