NCU presents a new member of the independent community — Alexandra Demenkova, a photographer whose work has long been an important part of contemporary documentary art. Her work is not just a visual study, but a deep social analysis that continues the tradition of humanistic photography established by the classics of the genre. In her projects, Alexandra Demenkova addresses topics that are often overlooked by mass culture. She pays special attention to women’s destinies, revealing their complexity, versatility and strength. Alexandra’s photographs are characterised by a special intimacy that comes from her deep involvement in the lives of her characters. She is not just an observer, but a participant whose own story is sometimes intertwined with the stories of her characters. Her work is not only a visual anthropology, but also an important social commentary that makes us think about issues that often remain in the shadows. Demenkova finds her own unique language that combines documentary accuracy with artistic expression, reminding us that art is not only aesthetics, but also a responsibility to society.
